PRODUCT APPLICATION
Hydrochloric acid is an inorganic strong acid solution with a wide range of applications in industrial processing.
1. In analytical chemistry, hydrochloric acid is commonly used for titration when determining the concentration of bases. The use of a strong acid solution for titration allows for a more distinct endpoint, resulting in more accurate results.
2. Hydrochloric acid is frequently used to dissolve solid samples for further analysis. It is used to dissolve certain metals, such as calcium carbonate or copper oxide, to form soluble substances that facilitate analysis.
3. One of the most important applications of hydrochloric acid is steel pickling, which involves the removal of impurities from steel.
4. Hydrochloric acid is commonly used to adjust the pH of water flow.
5. Hydrochloric acid is used in flame tests, which are commonly employed to test metals or their compounds.
6. Dilute hydrochloric acid is used to wash away impurities before conducting tests. Prior to testing a substance, platinum wire is cleaned with hydrochloric acid and then heated in a flame until the flame returns to its original color.
7. The regeneration of cation exchange resins often involves the use of high-quality hydrochloric acid.
8. Other applications include leather processing, salt production, and use in the construction industry. In the petroleum industry, hydrochloric acid is commonly used, for example, to dissolve rocks when injected into wells, creating large cavities.
9. Hydrochloric acid can dissolve calcium carbonate, and its applications include descaling or the preparation of lime mortar used in bricklaying. However, hydrochloric acid is hazardous and should be used with caution. It reacts with calcium carbonate in lime mortar to produce calcium chloride, carbon dioxide, and water.
10. Hydrochloric acid is commonly used in the production of gelatin, food, food ingredients, and Food Additives. Typical examples include aspartame, fructose, Citric Acid, lysine, and acid-hydrolyzed plant proteins.
