PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Ferric chloride is a covalent inorganic compound with the chemical formula FeCl3. It appears as black-brown crystals, and can also be found in flake form. It has a melting point of 306°C and a boiling point of 316°C. It is soluble in water and exhibits strong hygroscopicity, readily absorbing moisture from the air and undergoing deliquescence. When ferric chloride precipitates from an aqueous solution, it forms hexahydrate ferric chloride with six water molecules (FeCl3·6H2O), which appears as orange-yellow crystals. Ferric chloride is an important iron salt.
PRODUCT APPLICATION
It is primarily used for metal etching and wastewater treatment. Metal etching includes etching of materials such as copper, stainless steel, and aluminum. It is also used for low-oil Water Treatment, offering advantages such as good effectiveness and low cost, but it may cause yellowish discoloration of water. It is also employed in the production of engraved printing cylinders, electronic industry circuit boards, and fluorescent digital tubes. In the construction industry, it is used in the preparation of concrete to enhance its strength, corrosion resistance, and waterproofing properties. It can also be formulated with ferrous chloride, calcium chloride, aluminum chloride, aluminum sulfate, hydrochloric acid, etc., to produce waterproofing agents for concrete. In the inorganic industry, it is used to manufacture other iron salts and inks. In the dye industry, it acts as an oxidant for indigo dyes. In the textile industry, it is used as a mordant. In the metallurgical industry, it serves as a chlorination agent for extracting gold and silver. In the organic industry, it functions as a catalyst, oxidizing agent, and chlorinating agent. In the glass industry, it is used as a hot-state coloring agent for glassware. In the soap-making industry, it acts as a coagulant for the recovery of glycerol from soap waste liquors.
Another important application of ferric chloride is in metal etching, used for etching products such as eyeglass frames, clocks, electronic components, and nameplates.
