Polyphosphoric Acid is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Hn+2PnO3n+1. It is a colorless, transparent, viscous liquid that is corrosive and classified as a Class 2 inorganic acid corrosive substance. Polyphosphoric acid is a protonic acid and can dissolve various low-molecular-weight and high-molecular-weight organic compounds. Polyphosphates, in simple terms, are polymers of Phosphoric Acid. Phosphoric acid with a concentration above 100% is generally referred to as polyphosphates. It is a transparent and viscous liquid, and its viscosity increases with higher concentrations. Polyphosphates at 115% exhibit a glassy and viscous texture. When heated, the viscosity of polyphosphates decreases. Therefore, in some industrial applications, polyphosphates need to be heated before use to achieve fluidity for normal production.
PRODUCT APPLICATION
Polyphosphates can be used as Food Additives to improve the texture, taste, and preservation of food. In products such as meat, biscuits, and bread, polyphosphates can enhance water retention, extend shelf life, and make the food softer and more tender.
Water Treatment:
Polyphosphates are utilized in water treatment to remove minerals and impurities from water, thus improving its quality. They can reduce the formation of scale, maintain clear water pipes, ensure smooth water flow, and reduce pipeline maintenance costs.
Cosmetics Industry:
Polyphosphates find applications in cosmetics as softeners, moisturizers, thickeners, antioxidants, and pH regulators. They can reduce the gaps between skin cells, increasing skin firmness without causing irritation, making them suitable for sensitive skin.
Pharmaceutical Industry:
Polyphosphates can be used as controlled-release agents, stabilizers, and protective agents in pharmaceuticals. They can slow down drug release, enhance drug bioavailability, and protect drugs from environmental factors that could cause degradation.
